Legal Advice

The Attorney General's Office cannot provide legal advice to private citizens.  Our clients are VA’s state government and its agencies, boards and commissions.  If you need the assistance of a private attorney, you should contact the State Bar's Virginia Lawyer Referral Service or Virginia Legal Aid.

The Virginia Office of Consumer Affairs (“OCA”) functions as the clearinghouse for consumer complaints in Virginia.

Opinion Requests

Must be submitted in writing to our office at the address below.  The Attorney General is authorized to render official opinions to the state or local officials listed in § 2.2-505 of the Code of VA.

Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU)
